Technical Design
About gaining new skills
Within this project, the development of a portable battery-powered lamp was explored, accompanied by a detailed analysis of its technical structure. The objective was to gain a deeper understanding of technical products, specifically the functional and constructive principles of battery-operated lighting.
The process included a user action analysis, followed by the reverse engineering of an existing lamp. Based on these insights, the findings were translated into an individual product concept developed in reference to a selected brand.
Keyfeatures of the Product
The conceptual foundation of this project is based on the brand FSB. Its design language and brand DNA were analyzed and subsequently translated into the developed product concept.
During the design process of the lamp, extensive engagement with the brand identity of FSB was undertaken. The distilled essence of its design language served as the conceptual foundation for the final product.
Throughout the development, particular attention was given to electronic components, mechanical functionality, and the integration of high-quality materials. The aim was to create a lighting object that combines clear functionality with a refined tactile experience. Interaction was intended to remain intuitive and effortless, allowing the product to operate naturally while leaving a lasting sense of quality and satisfaction during use.
Light that adapts.
The mobile floor lamp 2509 combines formal reduction with maximum flexibility. Whether focused or atmospheric, it brings light exactly where it is needed.
A continuously adjustable dimmer provides full control: a click switches the light on or off, while a smooth motion precisely regulates brightness. The lamp head can be adjusted in height and rotated freely by 360 degrees, allowing individual lighting situations to be created with ease. By simply tilting the head, either directed or indirect light can be produced, depending on the desired function or atmosphere. Precisely manufactured components and a carefully developed joint mechanism ensure effortless handling.
The base station guides the lamp securely and intuitively into its charging position. Once placed down, the correct contact is established automatically, convenient, natural, and without any additional effort.
With its clear design, the 2509 integrates seamlessly into different environments and opens up new possibilities of use. A lamp that remains understated in order to let the essential take effect.
